Powering a Second Life: InnoVent’s partnership with Reusing IT

At InnoVent, we believe every device has more to give.

When IT equipment reaches the end of its lease, it’s not the end—it’s the start of a new journey. With the right approach, these devices can be given a second, third, and even fourth life—creating meaningful impact far beyond their original use.

That belief sits at the heart of our partnership with the charity Reusing IT.

Rethinking the device lifecycle

Our partnership with Reusing IT is built on a simple but powerful idea: maximise reuse, minimise waste, and ensure every device delivers value—social, environmental, and commercial.

Rather than allowing devices to be scrapped or sold off at minimal return, InnoVent now commits to donating the equivalent of a classroom’s worth of devices to Reusing IT every quarter as a minimum. This commitment reflects our ESG values in action and reinforces our approach to responsible IT lifecycle management.

By embedding reuse at the core of our process, we’re extending the life of technology, but most importantly, we’re extending its impact.

Since the start of our partnership, we’ve already seen the difference this approach can make:

Measurable impact

  • November 2025: 29 laptops and desktops donated
  • March 2026: 174 desktops and 80 monitors donated
  • 9 classrooms’ worth of devices now supporting digital inclusion

For many individuals and communities, access to a device is the difference between being included and being left behind.

A charity built on purpose

Reusing IT has been working at the intersection of technology, sustainability, and social impact for over two decades.

What began with a small initiative to prevent computers from going to landfill evolved into a global effort to bridge the digital divide. From early projects supporting education in Africa to more recent large-scale programmes, the charity has remained focused on one goal: ensuring access to technology for those who need it most.

Today, that mission is more urgent than ever. Now Reusing IT’s focus is to get children in Ukraine back into education in war struck areas, they are working directly with the ministry of education in Ukraine to get children digitally included.

But behind all of that is a simple truth: their ability to make an impact depends on access to reliable, usable devices. That’s where partnerships like ours matter.

Why this partnership works

The idea for this partnership came from a practical question: what if we stopped seeing end-of-life devices as a financial endpoint—and started seeing them as an opportunity?

In many cases, devices leaving our ecosystem still have real value. By redirecting them into a structured reuse programme, we:

  • Reduce unnecessary waste
  • Maximise the lifecycle of each asset
  • Support digital inclusion initiatives
  • Align operational decisions with ESG commitments

As the charity itself notes, partnerships like this are critical in enabling them to plan ahead, scale their work, and meet growing demand.

"Organisations like InnoVent are certainly not the norm in the tech reuse space. Most look to recover some commercial value and want to work with an established commercial ITAD. Clearly reuse is the jewel of the sustainability crown but the social part of ESG is something far more complex and nuanced. By supporting and working with a charity like Reusing IT both boxes are ticked. 100% of everything you give us is for Educational Reuse, we work simply to give every child / student the same opportunity of getting a good education. Without good laptops and desktops such as those being donated by InnoVent our ability to meet demand is difficult.

Our partnership with you allows us to plan, predict lead times and inform end users when and what to expect. InnoVent can certainly count themselves as being one of the ‘first responders’ in terms of their support in helping to fight digital exclusion"

By integrating reuse and donation into our core processes, we’re ensuring that sustainability isn’t a side initiative—it’s built into how we operate.

Looking ahead

At InnoVent, we’re committed to building a model where every device has maximum purpose, and every lifecycle decision contributes to a wider positive impact.

By working with Reusing IT, we’re not just managing IT assets—we’re helping to create access, opportunity, and inclusion.

Because every device deserves a second life—and the opportunity to change someone else’s
